Eamonn Holmes bows out of GB News show due to ‘ill health’ after unexplained absence

He recently said he was on 'borrowed time'

Eamonn Holmes was forced to exit his GB News show early today (July 2) after falling unwell.

The news anchor – who told last week how he feels he is on “borrowed time” – was fronting his daily Breakfast Show alongside co-host Isabel Webster.

However, Eamonn sparked concern among viewers when he was forced to bow out midway through an interview.

Eamonn Holmes forced to leave GB News show today

Eamonn and Isabel spoke to Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Mental Health Maria Caulfield at 7.45am today. However, Eamonn left Isabel to do all of the talking, remaining silent as she asked the questions.

At the start of the interview, Eamonn was seen sitting next to Isabel as she fired questions at Caulfield. However, halfway through the interview, as the cameras panned back to a split screen, Eamonn was nowhere to be seen.

Isabel then presented the final 90 minutes of the show alone without explaining Eamonn’s absence.

Viewers share concerns

Where’s Eamonn?” asked one concerned viewer. “What happened to Eamonn?” another asked. “Is Eamonn okay?” another concerned viewer commented.

“Watching Eamonn and Isobel, but where’s Eamonn gone?” said another. “Where’s the big man gone? Is Eamonn okay?” another wondered.

Eamonn’s reps issue statement

Eamonn has yet to address the incident on his social media channels. However, his reps has explained that he left the show due to ill health.

In a statement, they said: “Eamonn had to finish a little earlier today as he was feeling unwell. He hopes to be back tomorrow.”

GB News star Eamonn Holmes’ health battles

Eamonn has been plagued by health issues in current years. He has had numerous falls, operations and lives in chronic pain. He was most recently seen out at the TRIC Awards, using a mobility aid.

“I wasn’t going to come,” he said, “but I’ve got this new chair with all these gadgets.” He then said he feels like he’s on “borrowed time”.

At the event, Eamonn’s GB News show scooped up the award for Best News Broadcast. Accepting the award on stage, Eamonn said: “I had an operation a year and a half ago, and two things went wrong so I have two things [pins] in my back I don’t want. So I’ll happily accept this.”
