This Morning star Lisa Snowdon explains how she achieved two-stone weight loss: ‘I didn’t recognise myself’

Lisa said she went through a "dark" time with perimenopause

This Morning star Lisa Snowdon has opened up about how she achieved her two-stone weight loss.

The TV star and model, 52, admitted going through a “dark” time with perimenopause.

Lisa also revealed her secret to her weight loss, admitting she “had no grip on my cravings” during the health battle.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Lisa said: “I had days so dark that I thought, ‘If this is what my life looks like, then I can’t do it.’ I felt so lonely and confused. I didn’t recognise myself. The perimenopause and menopause have such an impact on your confidence, and I lost myself for a while. I was at my heaviest in 2018.”

She added of her weight loss: “During the perimenopause you’re more likely to crave things like pastries and coffee, and it becomes a tricky downward slope. I had no grip on my cravings – I’d drink too much coffee and then eat a packet of biscuits.

“It’s about listening to your body. When night sweats have kept you awake and you hit the wall mid-afternoon, a coffee isn’t the right idea. I know coffee impacts my anxiety too – if I’m anxious, an extra cup isn’t what I need.”

Lisa also said she’s “stripped it back” with her diet. She said she “eats lots of veg and protein, like fish, chicken, steak and eggs”.

The star also revealed that she tries to “stay away” from refined carbs, bread and “anything processed or heavy”.

The perimenopause and menopause have such an impact on your confidence, and I lost myself for a while.

In addition to this, Lisa said she “eats loads of plant-based protein too, like lentils and chickpeas”.

As well as her diet changes, Lisa also tries to do “some kind of movement every day” whether it’s a gym class, weights or just walking.

She also loves Pilates and gets in “at least 10,000 steps a day”.

When it comes to the menopause, Lisa has said HRT (hormone replacement therapy) has helped her “calm down my anger, rages and mood swings”.

She said it’s also helped with her sleep, night sweats and hot flushes.
