Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes ‘separated a year ago’ and have been trying to ‘keep it secret’

The GB News host and Loose Women presenter have been putting on a brave face

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes announced their plans to divorce after 14 years of marriage on Saturday May 25. But friends of the pair have now claimed they’ve actually been separated for at least a year.

The TV golden couple, who have been together for 27 years, released a short statement yesterday confirming the end of their union. And it seems it’s been brewing for quite some time.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford ‘apart for a year’

A source, claiming to be close to the pair, has spoken to The Sun and revealed the couple had been “separated for a year” but wanted to “keep it a secret”.

A further friend told MailOnline: “Ruth and her team have been telling their friends to look out for the comments, which they are planning to put on social media.

“It’s a very sorry tale. They are both so loved by the British public, they won over so many people on This Morning which they hosted for more than a decade.”

The couple seem to have gone to great lengths to insist they were still together, despite rumours to the contrary. Eamonn and Ruth had not been pictured together in public for a long time. Their last joint appearance was at the 2022 TRIC Awards.

Earlier this year, Eamonn also shared pictures from his granddaughter’s christening and Ruth wasn’t in them.

Followers again questioned where Ruth was when Eamonn then posted a picture of him with Linda Lusardi. Eamonn and Ruth didn’t engage with the comments or answer fans’ questions.

Chronic pain battle

Ruth even gave an interview this week about caring for him during his battle with chronic pain. He has undergone operations to his back, as well as breaking his shoulder. Eamonn also had four months off work as he recovered from surgery. He uses a walking aid and has been pictured in a wheelchair.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: “I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope. He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right.

“With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.”

Eamonn to speak out

According to latest reports, Eamonn will open up about the split on his GB News show on Monday.

The Sun claims the breakfast show host knows he has to be honest with viewers.

A source said: “Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day’s news without mentioning his split so he’ll say a few words.

“He is putting on a brave face and will be the true professional he always is. Focusing on work will be a welcome distraction.”

The publication also reported Eamonn had moved out of the couple’s home into a property nearby.
