Michael went missing on Wednesday

Dr Michael Mosley went missing on Wednesday while on holiday in Greece.

Today (Sunday, June 9) a body was found in the search for him. Now, tributes have poured in.

His wife, Clare Bailey, broke her silence on Sunday as she revealed he “did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team”.

Body found in search for Dr Michael Mosley

On Wednesday (June 5), This Morning star Dr Michael went missing on the isle of Symi, Greece.

He was seen leaving Saint Nicholas beach at 1.30pm on Wednesday afternoon after having a swim in the sea.

That evening, at 7.30pm, his wife called the police and reported him missing after he failed to return home.

On Friday, authorities looked to the possibility that he’d fallen off a cliff and into the sea.

This morning, reports confirmed that a body had been found in the search for Michael by a local.

The body was found on a rocky coast near Agia Marina beach by a private boat.

Tributes begin pouring in for Dr Michael Mosley

Following the news that a body had been found, tributes to Dr Michael began being paid.

This Morning – which Michael appeared on several times – wrote: “We’re all heartbroken to hear that Michael Mosley has died at the age of 67. His wife Clare has paid tribute to her ‘wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband’.

“Everyone at This Morning is thinking of Clare, their four children and the rest of Michael’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.”

The One Show added on X: “Everyone at The One Show is deeply saddened to hear about our friend and colleague Dr Michael Mosley. He was a much loved and hugely respected member of our original team. Our thoughts are very much with his family at this extremely difficult time.”

Celebrity tributes to Michael Mosley

Professor Alice Roberts – who has appeared on Time Team – took to Twitter to pay tribute.

“The fragility of life is so shocking. I’ve known Michael Mosley for many years – as a TV producer specialising in science and medicine,” she wrote.

“He was the executive producer of my 2009 series Human Journey. When he started presenting as well as producing, we made several science programmes together. And we met up at Hay Festival just 2 weeks ago. I can’t believe he’s gone. My thoughts are with his bereaved family,” she then added.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver also paid tribute.

“Rest in peace Michael Mosley…. Absolutely devastating news about the sad loss of fellow tv presenter Michael Mosley today,” he wrote on Instagram.

“What a wonderfully sweet, kind and gentle man he was. he did such a lot of good for public health with his TV shows and research. He was a curious investigator, producer and presenter and often changed the conversation around many public health issues for the better. He will be sadly missed….love and thoughts to Claire and all of his family,” he then added.

Piers Morgan also wrote about Michael today.

“Body found in search for TV doctor Michael Mosley on Greek island of Symi. Very sad development,” he tweeted.

TalkTV and This Morning star Julia Hartley-Brewer also paid tribute.

“This is very sad news. I interviewed Michael Mosley a few times about his Fast800 diet and he was an absolutely lovely man. My condolences to his family,” she wrote.

GMB star Ranvir Singh also then wrote: “Terribly sad news. Thank you for changing the lives of thousands of people – including mine – for the better.”

Jeremy Vine tweeted: “What an amazing man #DrMichaelMosley was. Friendly, open, modest, highly intelligent but also a born communicator — so rare. An adult mind, a child’s curiosity. He did everything with enthusiasm. We’re all going to miss him so much.”
