A body was found in the search for Dr Michael Mosley today (Sunday, June 9).
Dr Mosley went missing on Wednesday (June 5) while on holiday in Greece with his wife.
Body found in search for missing Michael Mosley
On Wednesday, after taking a swim in the sea, Michael reportedly left Saint Nicholas beach to head back home.
However, when he failed to return home, his wife reported him missing, sparking a search for the TV star.
Today, a body was found in the search for Michael Mosley on a rocky coast by a private boat on the island of Symi, Greece.
Formal identification is pending – however, police – and the mayor of Symi – believe it to be the body of Michael.
Mayor on likely cause of death
Following the finding of a body, the mayor of Symi, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, has shared his thoughts on how Michael may have died.
Despite the identity of the body not yet officially confirmed, Papakalodoukas believes that Michael most likely died from heat stroke and exhaustion.
The body was found just 10 meters away from Agia Marina beach.
The mayor also added that the area Michael travelled through is “difficult to pass”.
“I’m sorry for the family, I’m sorry that I’m the one to find him. I wish we had better news.”

‘Tragedy’ he was just meters from ‘shelter’
Tourist Sindy Seenarine, who has visited Symi biannually for the past 14 years, said that the high temperatures were unusual for the island in June.
“The tragedy is he was so close to shelter, maybe he was desperately trying to get here?” she told the PA news agency.
“We come here every year twice a year – that’s the tragedy to me, is he’s so close to shelter,” she continued.
“This is the hottest it’s ever been since we’ve been coming here, July and August it’s hotter. We’ve never experienced this heat in Symi in June.”
Tributes pour in following sad news in search for missing Michael Mosley
Today, tributes have poured in for Dr Michael.
“Rest in peace Michael Mosley…. Absolutely devastating news about the sad loss of fellow tv presenter Micheal Mosley today,” Jamie Oliver said.
“What a wonderfully sweet, kind and gentle man he was. he did such a lot of good for public health with his TV shows and research. He was a curious investigator, producer and presenter and often changed the conversation around many public health issues for the better. He will be sadly missed….love and thoughts to Claire and all of his family.”
Ranvir Singh wrote: “Terribly sad news. Thank you for changing the lives of thousands of people – including mine – for the better.”
