Kate Garraway has revealed a new family car with fans as she said she thinks her late husband Derek Draper would approve of it.
The Good Morning Britain host, 57, lost her husband in January. Derek died at the age of 56 following his battle with Covid-19 and its aftereffects.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Kate shared a video of herself and her dad loading their new family car ahead of a trip.

The star explained to fans: “We haven’t had a car since Vickie Volvo was stolen and Percy Peugeot had to go back but thanks to some amazing friends who’ve helped me loan a brand new @volvocaruk C90 – I absolutely love it!!!!!
It’s come just in time to take my mum and dad away on our annual Cornwall trip.
“Not an advert just a passion! Feels like old times with hands on an @volvocars wheel, although bittersweet as this would have been the perfect car to carry Derek in and out of with plenty of room for a hoist and wheelchair in the back.”
Kate added: “But I know he would approve and it’s come just in time to take my mum and dad away on our annual Cornwall trip with ALL the Garraways!
“Dad slightly tense about me driving but relieved that it beeps every time near an obstacle! Now just have to find a name for it?! Hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday.”
Fans were delighted for Kate and gushed in the comments. One person said: “Enjoy you beautiful soul… Have a great family time.”
Another wrote: “Hope you all have an amazing time together.”
Meanwhile, someone else commented: “Have a wonderful time away, safe travels. What about the name Vonda for your new [car].”
Kate on husband Derek’s death
In May, Kate opened up about her grief following Derek’s death.
The TV star told the Mirror: “I’m only at the beginning of grief really. I’m just three months in so there are many ups and downs to come.
“And at the moment it’s all about keeping busy. I’m sure there will be a moment where I have to stop and deal with it. But at the moment I’m just keeping busy. Help is there. You just have to ask for it.”
